What a very busy and exciting last week before the Christmas holidays! We had our fantastic junior disco where we all showed off our moves and experienced a very enjoyable panto (Oh yes we did!).

I would like to thank all of the children for their very kind Christmas gifts and to wish everyone a merry and joyful Christmas and a very happy new year to you all! I hope Santa gave you all that you wished for!

Sixties Sue

We had another important visitor to our class last week. Her name was 'Sixties Sue.' She told us all about  popular sixties music, dance, fashion, television, news and new foods. Here are some of our comments :-
Eleanor - " When she told us about the Beatles, that they were very popular and they sang on the roof....I found that funny!"
Roman - "The Beatles stopped playing music in Britain 'coz the fans were to loud!"
Olivia - " She told us about the records, they were very big compared to ours!"
Amber - "She showed us the mashed potato dance and we danced it!"
Courtney - "I liked the fashion of the clothes. I liked the short skirt and Heidi's long dress."
Maddison - " They had jostix burning in their house, they gave out a scent. Sixties Sue lit a jostix and I liked the smell!"
Regan - " The 'Space Race' was on and Russia won first but America wanted another 'Space Race' and then America won because they put a man on the moon first!"
Mrs Roderick- "I really enjoyed taking part in the sixties dance moves and listening to the children accompanying the Beatles by singing 'Yellow Submarine'!"

Mr. Fancis' visit

Mr. Francis came to visit us to answer questions about life in Llanharry during the Second World War. He was able to answer all of our questions and he shared lots of his funny stories which we really enjoyed. Here are our comments :-
"I liked it when Mr.Francis said he never saw an orange before and he ate the peel, the orange peel!" Amber.
" When Mr.Francis came in, when he said that his cousin fell out of a tree and they thought he was dead. And when they got back he was rubbing his head!"  Gethin.
" When Mr.Francis came in he told us the story about the man who shot the moon, because he had to shoot the next thing that came out of the clouds!" Regan.
"I liked the story when the man climbed the lamppost and he shined the torch into the sky and said 'Blow Llanharry up'!" Rhys.
Diolch Mr.Francis!

Our creative week!

We have had a very busy week! We have explored shades of warm/hot colours by mixing powder paints and have cut out silhouettes of buildings to create our own burning Blitz pictures which are very effective and ready to go on display in class!
In addition to this we have made lists of adjectives to describe a scene from the Blitz in order to use in our creative stories for next week.
In Maths, we have been exploring shapes and lines of symmetry which can be rather tricky without a mirror!
